Profile
Leonel Valdés (b. 1989) is a Cuban-born painter based in Marburg, Germany. Trained at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, his work explores landscape as a space of energy and transformation — not as the image of a place, but as a field of perception, light and inner experience. From drawing, installation and land art, his practice has evolved towards abstract painting: colour, layering, transparency and gestural condensation build open fields that evoke a perpetual state of change. His paintings are held in private collections in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
