Over the last few years, Leonel Valdés has focused his work on creating abstract paintings, exploring themes such as identity, emigration, travel, transformation, nature and spirituality. Through the series "Horizon", "Voyage", "Natural Mystique" and "Changes", Valdés relies on the concepts of temporality and memory, belonging and displacement to offer a reflection on the human experience and the constant flow of life in an increasingly interconnected world.
Valdés' plastic language is distinguished by a dynamic spatial game in which harmonies and contrasts of light and shadow coexist. His compositions integrate transparencies and depths with energetic gestural strokes, combining liquid and fluid forms with thick layers of vibrant and evocative colors. This way of working not only highlights the narrative of his content, but invites the viewer to immerse themselves in an introspective and essential connection with his own experience.
